It was extremely uncomfortable to play at the maximum settings at 1080p. In this game, I had a most unsatisfactory experience, due to the extremely low frame rate. Temperatures must be taken with a grain of salt as every laptop will have different cooling configurations, thus the temperatures here are not really a representative of the GTX 860M’s heat output, but more of the Lenovo Y50’s cooling performance. The Lenovo Y50 is infamous for cutting off boost very early, at around 65-70 ☌, resulting in the CPU running at 2.5 GHz, which in turn causes the CPU to bottleneck the GPU. I have an MSI Apache Pro with a Core i7 4710HQ 8GB (1 stick) RAM and a 2GB GTX 860M (Maxwell based which is the better version) and I can play brand new games at 1080P at med-high settings above 30FPS but I usually drop the settings to med to get my fps in the 50+ range.
This is still true for the GTX 860M but expect 25% performance gain from a GTX 765M I have a 760m and so far i have been able to play most of my games at 1080p at high settings and ultra for older games.
